Hetrick Martin Institute comes to Newark

The Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI) founded in NYC in 1979, believes all young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential.

HMI: Newark opened at the YEES Center, located at 200 Washington Street earlier last year. It is the first direct-service program outside of New York City operated by HMI. It is open year round weekdays 3-6:30. HMI: Newark provides programs and services to LGBTQ youth between the ages of 12 to 21 in the city and surrounding area. The wide range of after-school programming and supportive services includes mental health, wellness and arts & culture - based on those successfully practiced by HMI in New York City for more than 30 years.

HMI is a registered 501 (c) (3) supported by government, private sector and individual supporters including HMI Ambassadors like Tim Gunn and Kimora Lee Simon. On January 25th HMI: Newark will be hosting a fundraising event, "Bridge to Brick City" at Adega Grill. New York Liberty Legends Kym Hampton and Sue Wicks as well as Mayor Booker will be at the event. Tickets are available for $100 - for more info visit: www.hmi.org/BridgetoBrickCity.
