Makers — from Tech Startups to Public Schools, from metalsmiths to wearable technology designers — will present their projects that take DIY thinking to a new level. Whether they are presenting a clever new way to build a robot, an old-school computer or a 3D model, the Makers at this event will captivate and inspire—all alongside the Museum’s art and science collections, which are the ultimate “maker” examples.
The event is more about show than tell in a fun faire environment. Join demonstrations, participate in hands-on workshops and be inspired by speakers pushing the limits of art, science and technology.
Makers from across the Tri-state region will be on hand; activities and demonstrations include:
Learn about perspective drawings from Project Lead the Way.
Watch a Power Racing Competition of working electric vehicles made for under $500.
Learn to solder, program and make circuits with Fair Use Building and Research (FUBAR) Labs.
Delight in old fashioned toys by artist John P. Chismar.
Examine a homemade computer by Frank Duggan.
Join GlassRoots for flameworking technique demonstrations.
Taste the creations Newark’s own Harvest Table and Burger Walla.
Talk shop with the student builders of NJIT’s Baja Car.
Build and Race rubber band cars with Towhee Co. and JC Fablab.
