Although launched in 2010, the history of NewarkPulse.com is much older and deeper than that. The blood of this website is as old as the city itself, with the continued vigor that made Newark a truly American metropolis with our diversity and infrastructure. But is our spirit that will carry us forward.

Tamara Remedios decided to launch NewarkPulse.com due to the constant negative energy that has plagued our community and efforts to effectively market the city for far too long. With the idea that there are positive stories and news on every block throughout our city, she began to tell them the best way she knew how, which was by focusing on dining options, entertainment, and small business stories.

By building the largest database of local businesses and restaurants, Tamara quickly realized that there are stories deeply embedded in all of us as neighbors, friends, co-workers, customers, and family. Through also telling those stories, the website began to complete the circle that is the life of our city, where we live, work, and play.

Today NewarkPulse.com is the most popular Newark-based website, having developed the most comprehensive events calendar in the city, launched the first shop local programs in the city as well as Newark Small Business Week, a content partnership with the Greater Newark Convention & Visitors Bureau, a downloadable Summer Guide, the first guide for Newark college students, successful block parties on Halsey Street, and breaking news about some of the city's most positive events including the announcement of both Whole Foods and Chipotle. 

And we're just getting started. We don't intend to stop until the last positive story is told. We are the PULSE of NEWARK.
