Wayne Shorter: Weather Report and Beyond Reimagined

Date(s): April 22, 2017 at 8:00pm - 11:59pm

Location: NJ Performing Arts Center (NJ PAC)

Cost: $65

Jazz all-stars Christian McBride, Rachel Z, Joe Lovano, Steve Wilson and former members of Weather Report salute saxophonist Wayne Shorter, the subject of a weekend-long celebration at NJPAC.

Jazz musician and composer Wayne Shorter has been called “probably jazz’s greatest living small-group composer and a contender for greatest living improviser” by The New York Times. All the artists appearing in this concert would enthusiastically agree.

Jazz luminaries pay homage with a one-time-only concert in commemoration of Shorter’s years with Weather Report and Beyond the Sound Barrier. Drummer Omar Hakim and percussionist Manolo Badrena – two former members of Weather Report – are joined by saxophonists Joe Lovano and Steve Wilson, keyboardist Rachel Z and bassist Christian McBride, NJPAC’s Jazz Advisor.
