The 2017 Schedule of Event for Newark Pride Week:

  • Thursday, JULY 13, 5-6:30pm
    LGBT Pride Flag Raising @ City Hall

    The rainbow flag, a universal symbol of gay pride, will fly outside Newark City Hall for the duration of our #PowerInPride celebration. The city has made a firm commitment to supporting the needs and equality of the LGBTQ community, please come out and join us for this annual event that kicks off Newark Gay Pride.
     
  • Friday, JULY 14, 6-9pm
    Stunts & Shows @ Express Newark

    For the under 21 party people...
    You could be the next contestant..."come on down"! *in our Price Is Right voice* We invite you to join our youth LGBTQ game show highlighting Newark's LGBTQ narrative.

     
  • Friday, JULY 14, 6-10pm
    Newark Proud Awards @ Newark Riverfront Park

    Newark Pride Inc., Urban+Out and Circle of Friends acknowledge five truly inspiring and amazing honorees as we celebrate Newark Pride, excellence and service in our communities. Our 2017 honorees are:
    • Archbishop Carl Bean

    • Larry Lyons

    • Perris Straughter

    • Tamara Fleming

    • Rutgers University - Newark Queer Oral History Project

  • Friday, JULY 14, 7-11:30pm
    Brick City Bar Crawl

    This is a WALKING bar crawl and we will be wind through 4 bars in Newark's Ironbound neighborhood - with free appetizers or drink offered at each. We'll spend about an hour at each bar and end the night with a dance party!

    Comic Book Conversations @ EqualSpace

    How can comic book companies manage diversity and representation in their characters and make it effective for readers and sales? Our discussion will cover: Legacy vs New: The common pitfalls of inclusion in comic book narratives, How comic book publishers can learn from certain missteps, Reinforce positive representation for creators and fans and how important is it for the future of comic books

    Power in Pride Parade

    Parade is the buzzword for Newark Gay Pride, as it kicks off our annual and much anticipated Festival in the Park. This march is a time to demonstrate our commitment to nurture and build a new tomorrow, united for equality and justice...rooted in love.
