Reinvent your Thursday evenings with the Newark Museum’s Late Thursdays. Relax after hours with creatively inspired social evenings that offer a fresh take on the Museum’s captivating collections, through a dynamic mix of music, food, drinks, art, and entertainment.

November Highlights:

  • Pick up a brush and body paint live nude models in a design inspired by our African textile collection.
  • Beautify your hair or bare head with a graffiti hair design from our African collection using stencils and temporary hair color spray.
  • Explore body transformation circus style during a live performance by Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble.
  • Push your balance to the limit during a tightrope walking workshop led by Trenton Circus Squad and inspired by Yinka Shonibare’s “Lady Walking a Tightrope.”

On Late Thursdays, unexpected activities and experiences spark new insights and connections -- with art, ideas, and one another. Pop-up performances, deep discussions and interactive games bring artwork in the galleries to life.  The Planetarium transforms into Another Planet, theatrical experiences of music and digital art using 360° fulldome projection.

Each evening focuses on a different topic or theme, generating a unique experience every time.
