Monk Room Closes

Literally day before the Devils season kicks off at the Prudential Center, The Monk Room closes their doors after 2 years.

The announcement was made via social media 9pm Wednesday, September 23:

"After almost two years and thousands of pizzas, we're closing our doors as we look to design the future of The Monk Room. We can't thank enough all of our amazing staff who made this little slice of Green Street what it was and the Newark faithful who broke bread under our humble roof 3, 4, sometimes 5 days a week. You will always be our family, and we will never forget your warmth and generosity. We loved this city when we chose to open our doors here, and we still love it as we close them tonight. Let's not say our goodbyes, though. Let's just call this a break in the conversation, a conversation we hope to continue soon. For in the city of Devils, it's always good to have a Monk."

The owners reiterate that they are going to try to "design the future" of the restaurant so they aren't confirming a permanent closure.
